THE Fiji under-18 sevens team advanced to meet Australia in the quarterfinals after topping their pool at the World Schools Sevens in Auckland in New Zealand yesterday.

Fiji ran undefeated on day one and brought the crowd to life in every game with their dazzling footwork and showcasing their off-loading skills.

“Our players did well and we executed what we did in training,” said coach Masi Saqanivere.

“They did well today but we won’t dwell on it, it’s not over yet.

“We meet Australia next and that’s going to be a different game altogether.”

The Fijiana U18 fought back after an early loss in the first round to the New Zealand Condors to win their remaining games and advance to meet Japan in the Open Girls quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Rugby Academy Fiji progressed both teams to the bowl quarterfinals with the boys U18 to meet Niue and the girls U18 to play National Indigenous Australia.
