THE Topline Rugby Club of Lautoka got a boost with Charles Sturt University coach David Conyers gifting a suitcase of second hand jerseys and rugby kits last week.
Conyers who has been coaching rugby for the past 30 years got acquainted with former Lautoka coach and Fiji 7s fitness trainer Sireli Bulicokocoko whilst on a coaching stint in the United Kingdom a decade ago.
Bulicokocoko invited Conyers to give his collection to the players of the Topline Club. Conyers said it was a small token of bringing jerseys and kits from his university in Australia.
“I have been coaching rugby for 30 years and have a lifetime investment in the sport,” Conyers said.
“I been to 50 different countries and have learnt a lot about the different cultures. Rugby is a community sport so being able to donate where there are underprivileged children is what I love to do.
“Last year I was coaching in Austria and collected a lot of jerseys which I took to India. I have known Sireli for a number of years coaching in England together with him. I told him that I will be in the country so it was a fantastic opportunity to help out Topline rugby.”
