Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League president Naisa Cama has praised the standard of competition shown by schools in the annual Vodafone Cup competition.

He made the comment after the grand finals on Saturday at Ratu Cakobau Park at Nausori.

“This shows that our long term development plan has come to fruition because it has been a very successful season,” he said.

“A record number of teams participated this year and we have the girls competition that needs to be developed more in order for our girls to showcase their talents and be recognised.

“The new trophy introduced to the women’s competition which was the Akuila Vute Trophy is dedicated to our late president who passed away last year.

“He was the backbone of the secondary schools rugby league.” He said having the northern teams was an icing on the cake when they managed to beat the South Eastern Zone side.

“They prove that they have talents and beating a team from this side is a milestone achievement for them.

“We thank our sponsor Vodafone, our families, fans and former students for their never ending support.” Queen Victoria School set a record by winning all grades.
