Sugar industry tribunal extends cane planting season

THE Sugar Industry Tribunal has extended the cane planting season to December 15.

And the Sugar Cane Growers Council has urged farmers with available land to take advantage of the extension.

SCGC chief executive officer Sundresh Chetty said this was a huge opportunity for farmers.

“As per the Sugar Master Award, the cane planting window was supposed to have closed on October 31, however, it has been extended by a month and a half,” Mr Chetty said.
