SODELPA here to win, not fight: Duituturaga

“Our party is here to win, not fight.”
These were the words of Emele Duituturaga who was appointed as the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) acting general secretary at one of the party’s management board meeting yesterday.
Two factions within SODELPA called for simultaneous board meetings in Suva yesterday whereby Ms Duituturaga was appointed at one of the party’s management board meeting which was chaired by Vijay Singh at Holiday Inn in Suva.
The meeting was attended by Opposition MPs, Ro Teimumu Kepa, Lynda Tabuya, Viliame Gavoka and Aseri Radrodro.
Also present were Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, Roko Sau Josefa Cinavilakeba, former unionist Semisi Lasike and Suva lawyer Tanya Waqanika.
Ms Duituturaga said it was an honor to be given the opportunity to work with party executives as they prepare for the next general elections.
She said they would need to regularise the party’s policies.
“We have issues within our party and that needs to be settled,” she said.
The other faction of the party chaired by Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu held their meeting at the Kshatriya Hall also in Suva, where they appointed Adi Litia Qionibaravi, as the party’s general secretary.
Opposition leader Sitiveni Rabuka was present at the meeting at Kshatriya Hall .
