FARMERS in rural Cakaudrove have a reason to smile as Government’s road development projects would soon allow them easy access to markets.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea yesterday confirmed at the Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting at Somosomo Village on Taveuni that tenders have been advertised for developments of certain rural roads.

Mr Vocea said the tender for construction of the Viani to Lea road in Buca Bay and from Nasasa to Valovoni in Saqani have been advertised.

Plans have also been confirmed for road construction from Tawake to Wainiika in Udu Point area, Dreketilailai to Lekutu, Napuka to Wailevu in Tunuloa and Dakuniba to Waikava in Cakaudrove district.

“All scoping work has been done for these roads,” he said.

“Our commitment towards development of rural areas will remain unchanged.”

Council chairman Ratu Jekesoni Yavalanavanua thanked Government for this development as it would benefit the villagers and farmers.
