Digicel Fiji has provided back to school packs to 500 children affected by STC Yasa in Vanua Levu.
Company chief executive officer Farid Mohammed said they stepped in to lighten the burden on parents in those communities.
The packs included stationery such as pens, rulers, pencils and exercise books supplied by Star Printery Ltd.
“We are aware of the struggles of the families in the affected communities to make ends meet and decided to step in and help some of them in sending their children back to school to continue the important development process of obtaining a good education,” he said.
“We hope our outreach will help families continue their efforts to rebuild and give the children renewed hope after the massive devastation caused by TC Yasa.”
He said they were moved by the gratitude expressed by parents, children and elders in the community.
The Digicel Fiji team visited affected areas in Bua, Seaqaqa and Labasa.
