Man arrested by a citizen later dies at health center; Wife identifies body

A MAN who was taken in by Police for a case of damaging property but later passed away at the Valelevu Health centre has been identified.

A statement from Police confirmed that the man’s wife was able to identify the body this morning.

Police said a post-mortem examination would be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, earlier today Police had requested members of the public to identify the 32-year-old man who Police have now confirmed was a resident of Nabua.

Police said the victim was arrested by a citizen after allegedly damaging his vehicle that was parked along Narere Stage 1 yesterday afternoon.

Police also confirmed that the victim was allegedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the citizen’s arrest and was brought to the Nasinu Police Station.

After a while, the victim complained of being ill where he was rushed to the Makoi Health Center for treatment.

Police stated that the man passed away while being transferred to the Valelevu Hospital.
