Queen Victoria School under-15 players celebrated at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori with tears after winning the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League U15 final on Saturday.

The lads from Vulinituraga beat Nasinu Secondary School Panthers 28-6. Victoria Knights coach Isireli Mataitoga said they were determined to win.

“This is our youngest team filled with boys who are fresh from primary school level,” he said.

“They are adapting themselves into the school boarding life. They know what is expected from them and they delivered it very well.

“They balance training and studying and they work hard to reach this level. They deserve every praise.

“We are grateful for the support we received. The backbone of our success was the support from our parents and the old boys association.”

Victoria Knights U15 led 6-4 in the first half. Captain Sakenasa Nakuruilagi said they adapted well and formed a brotherly bond when they joined QVS.

“I told the boys to never to give up because this is our first year in high school and we should start off on a high note with a win,” he said.

Isireli Bari was named the best player of the match. He is the son of former Nadi captain Vuniani Bari from Moala Village in Nadi.
