Leba Niumataiwalu was sitting in her flat in Legalega, Nadi, contemplating the future of her young family when The Fiji Times visited.
“We really didn’t see this coming, it happened so suddenly,” she said.
“It was like they dropped a bomb on us.
“I think a lot of us are still processing and thinking about what we have to do next.
“There’s a lot of prioritising and shifting through things that we need to do.”
She said the past few months had been a challenging time for her and her colleagues.
“We had to rely on each other and organise zoom calls and daily devotions where we looked to our faith in God.
“The one thing I’m looking forward to today is our 6pm devotion on zoom. It will be very different compared to others but all we can do now is rely on each other’s support and prayers.”
She was among the 758 Fiji Airways staff members who received their termination letters from the airline yesterday.
