PACIFIC Building Solutions (PBS) officially handed over a completed $6.4 million project to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church College last week.
A statement from the company said it took the team just more than one year to complete the dormitory facility built on the campus of the church’s high school in Tamavua, Suva.
PBS project manager Sanjay Chand said they constructed three main structures that made up the male dormitory, female dormitory and main entrance lounges with dining area for students.
“The new facilities cater for 104 students with two sets of family apartments for students with young children and all associated site works and fencing,” he said.
According to Mr Chand work on the project was delayed as a result of 90 days of inclement weather.
“Special thanks to several major subcontractors including Concrete Solutions for dedicating significant resources to help deliver a high-quality project within record time. It took 35 PBS staff and 60 subcontracted staff to complete the works.
“We are thrilled to have completed the project on time to allow students from across Melanesia to settle into their brand-new dorms at the commencement of this new 2020 school year.
“We understand the students are thrilled and parents are grateful to be in these brand-new facilities.”
He said the group looked forward to working with the church on future projects in the region.
