The disruption in the global supply of family planning items has affected local supply, states the Ministry of Health.

Health Ministry acting permanent secretary Dr James Fong said this while responding to concerns from women in the Sugar City that the Lautoka Hospital had run out of contraceptives.

“The disruption in the global supply chain impacted the family planning items as well, however, the ministry has recovered with the arrival and distributions of the family planning commodities,” Dr Fong said.

“Presently, all the family planning items are available and distributions around the country are being routinely organised as scheduled.”

Dr Fong said the monthly supplies for the Lautoka Hospital and Western Health Services were dispatched at the end of August, adding the next dispatch was scheduled for the end of this month.
