Awesome job medical superheroes.

This was the message displayed by a group of Lautoka residents who spent their time at home during the lockdown putting together encouraging messages for medical workers who have been at the frontline of the fight against COVID-19 in Fiji.

The Mohan Singh Place residents yesterday held up banners and signs for the health workers who were visiting households carrying out COVID-19 screenings and surveys.

Spokeswoman Kirti Patel said they wanted to express their gratitude to the health workers.

“We have a few neighbours who work at the Lautoka Hospital and every morning their transport comes to pick them up,” she said.

“So we thought we would wait for them with these signs and banners just to let them know that their work is highly appreciated.

“They are at the frontline and we know of their sacrifice so in our own little way we wanted to let them know that we are thinking of them and we are praying for them.

“We are praying for their safety and for their families.”

According to Government, more than 30,000 residents in Lautoka have been screened by Health Ministry officials with more expected to be surveyed this week.
