Donors assisting affected families in the Western Division have been urged to contact the Commissioner Western’s office operations centre of the communities or families they will be assisting.

Fiji Council of Social Services team leader West Mosese Baseisei said this was to ensure that there was no double-dipping by beneficiaries.

“We would like them to please contact us and inform us of the places or people they will be assisting because we want to ensure that everyone who is affected is getting the help they need.

“Right now our operations centre has been activated and that means we are also receiving donations or assistance from interested people or organisations.

“Some of them may choose to go straight to the people that they want to help but we want them to inform us so we can have these places in our records.

“So that when we do co-ordinate donations or contributions we can direct them to areas that have yet to receive any assistance.”

The operations centre was activated at the Commissioner Western’s office in Lautoka where donations and relief supplies were being accepted for individuals in isolation.
