COVID-19: 12 front Navua Magistrates Court

Twelve people appeared at the Navua Magistrates Court today charged with failure to comply with orders.

Saten Kumar, Sanjay Prasad and Alvin Narayan who were arrested while drinking kava in Waidradra, Navua yesterday pleaded guilty to their charges.

They were all handed a three months imprisonment sentence each suspended for 18 months.

Avinesh Ram, Sanjay Ram and Kunal Kumar were taken in custody after being caught drinking alcohol in Naitata, Navua yesterday.

All three pleaded guilty to their charges.

Avinesh and Sanjay were handed three months imprisonment sentence suspended for 18 months, while Kunal was fined $400 to be paid in the next two months.

Six people were arrested from the Navua Highway for being part of a social gathering.

They were Avishek Ram, Vinal Prasad, Munit Deo, Rinish, Mukesh Chand and Lorraine Singh.

All six pleaded guilty to their charges.

Avishek, Vinal and Lorraine who are unemployed were sentenced to three months imprisonment suspended for two years.

Rinish, Munit and Mukesh were fined $400 each to be paid within the next two months.

All 12 were warned not to reoffend.
