Bus drivers earn more than minimum wage, consultation told

BUS drivers working for a company in Labasa are earning more than the minimum wage proposed for Public Service Vehicle drivers, a national minimum wage rate consultation in the northern town heard yesterday.

In a meeting with Minister for Employment Parveen Kumar, employees of Parmod Enterprises Limited (PEL) said the proposed minimum wage rate of $3.50 needs to be increased.

Bus driver of 45 years Asgar Ali said PSV drivers in the company were getting more than the $3.50 proposed at the consultation.
