MENINGOCOCCAL disease is not a joke, it can take away someone you love when you least expect it.
This was the message from a Lautoka father searching for answers after his 21-year-old daughter passed away last month to the deadly illness in Labasa — making her the country’s fifth victim this year. Donisha Devnisha Murti died at the Labasa Hospital on May 30, four days before she was to be reunited with her one year and eight months old daughter and family in Lautoka.
She was a final year student at the Sangam College of Nursing and Health Care Education in Labasa.
Distraught father Devendra Murti said he and his family were looking forward to seeing Donisha and he had bought plane tickets for her return home on June 2.
“We had not seen her in six months, so everyone was so excited, especially her daughter Katelyn,” he said.
